[J-Movie] A Boy and His Samurai ちょんまげぷりん (2010) Review

Rating: Very enjoyable ****



Chonmage Purin combines pastry making and motherly love into an interesting movie centred around a mother-son pair and a samurai who is spirited away from Edo to modern Tokyo.

Hiroku's and her son Tomoya's lives become intertwined with a samurai from Edo, Kijima Yasube, after they find him on the streets of Tokyo. Yasube offers his services as a housemaid for meals and lodging as he discovers himself in pastry-making and rewrites history of how purin came to Japan.
