[TW-Movie] Jump Ashin! 翻滾吧！阿信 (2011) Review

Jump Ashin! depicts the love for gymnastics in the small town of Yilan and the large part it plays in the town lives.

Ashin played by Eddie Peng is forced to quit gymnastics by his mum to help her sell frutits. With free time on his hands, he gets into street fights with his friend Pickles.

Things go awry with Pickle killing the leader of some street thugs. So they ditch town to Taipei and become lackeys to the local mafia. * bam * Pickle dies and the movie continues with Ashin returning to his hometown.

This is where I love Taiwanese movies.. it never gets too tense. What seemed to be a serious plot becomes light-hearted. And it all comes together.

The gymnastics scenes and nice pictures of the town are really enjoyable. I also like the contrast given by the conversations between Ashin and 599 from the call-in paging centre.
